Let's play America's 2nd Favorite Game. Victor Cruz catches a pass and dives to the ground Torry Holt style to avoid getting smashed by two Cardinal defenders. He isn't touched and lets go of the football, and the Cardinals immediately pick up the ball. I'm not sure if the rules get any fuzzier than this one in the NFL. If the player "gives himself up", he is deemed down and the whistle blows the play dead. I'm pretty sure that the people who wrote the Unite States Constitution also wrote the second vaguest document in the history of the world, the NFL Rule Book. What's your call, down or not down?
