There was somewhat shocking news that came from the Houston Texans today. Quarterback Matt Schaub looks to be missing the rest of the season with a foot injury that occurred during this week's blowout of the lowly Bucs. Schaub suffered the injury on a QB sneak at his own one yard line while trying to avoid a safety. Some may say that this injury could severely change their playoff chances for the year, but I disagree. Matt Leinart (yup that's right) will not have to do too much with one of the best running games and offensive supporting casts in the entire NFL. Coupled with the fact that Leinart won't be relied on very heavily to carry the load, word around the street is that the former USC start has been working hard to improve his game and understanding of the playbook.
I know Leinart wasn't terribly successful in his time with the Cardinals, but I think those struggles had something to due with his immaturity. You know Matt was at Arizona State every Saturday night getting some of the nicest tail in the country (can you blame him) and partying it up. So I'm sure he wasn't totally focused on his football during his time with Arizona. Now, I think it is a different story. All the signs point to an older, more mature Leinart with something to prove. This is his chance to show that he is not a bust and he has matured from his partying ways of the past. I think the Texans will continue to be successful, and Matt Leinart will start to live up to some of the first round hype he had coming into the league. Nonetheless, it's definitely an intriguing situation.
