Kyle Orton cut by Broncos

Today, Kyle Orton was cut by the Denver Broncos and will be on going through waivers on Wednesday. This move is meaningful for many teams in the NFL. The Broncos look to be committed to Tim Tebow for this year at least. Still pretty mind blowing that a guy who is 4-1 as a starter doesn't have his team 100% behind him.

As for the teams Kyle Orton could now be playing for - several teams have suffered QB injuries and could put in a claim for Orton. Waivers goes in reverse order of the standings, so I will go in order of who has the first chance at him.

Miami Dolphins- Matt Moore has been much better of late and the Dolphins are on a 3 game winning streak, but they might want to add the veteran QB. In the offseason, the Dolphins tried to trade for Orton, but the Broncos wanted a 3rd round pick. The Broncos are looking pretty stupid now that they get nothing in return for Orton.

Arizona Cardinals- Kevin Kolb has been hurt and hasn't been very good. Arizona might want to give someone else a chance to start. This one isn't very likely.

Kansas City Chiefs- Matt Cassel has been placed on IR and Tyler Palko looked pretty terrible in his 1st start. At 4-6, the Chiefs are only 2 games behind in the AFC West and could still make a run. This seems like the first team that will really take a look at him.

Houston Texans- I know they will come up in Orton talks, but I feel like they are committed to Matt Leinart. I think it is very unlikely the Texans add him.

Chicago Bears- Jay Cutler will be having thumb surgery Wednesday and will most likely miss the rest of the regular season. This is the perfect fit for the Bears. Kyle Orton was 21-12 as the Bears from 2005-08. The Coaching staff is still the same and Orton should be able to step right in and start on Sunday. The Bears have a young backup in Caleb Hanie and tare most likely much better off going for Orton. If they can get Orton here they should have no trouble making the playoffs.

{UPDATE} Reports are that the Bears will put a claim in for Orton. They are only 30th on the list, so Orton to Chicago is far from a lock.
