Chris Paul traded to the Lakers

{Update} Reports are coming out that the Owners vetoed this trade. The Hornets don't have an actual owner and are owned by all of the leagues owners. They didnt think the deal was in the best interest of the deal so they vetoed it. I thought the deal was pretty fair for the Hornets so I dont really get this one.

It looks like we have our 1st mega trade of the NBA season. This deal is not finalized but there are many reports that it is a done deal.

Lakers get Chris Paul

Rockets get Pau Gasol

What the Hornets get is still up in the air but it will be Lamar Odom for sure. Kevin Martin or Luis Scola from Houston. Also New Orleans will get some young pieces from Houston like the knicks 1st rounder, Chase Budinger, Jordan Hill and Patrick Peterson.

This trade completely changes the look of the Lakers and still leaves them with Andrew Bynum who they could swing to Orlando for Dwight Howard. As the Lakers are currently constructed, I don't think they are that much better now. With a fragile Bynum as their only good big man they could be in trouble. Paul, Kobe, and Bynum is a nice core of guys but after that they are pretty thin and cant afford to face any injuries. The word is that they will now make a strong push for Dwight Howard and could form another true Big 3 in LA. That is one scary thought for sure. I think they have to find a way to make the Howard deal to have a real shot this year. They might be able to add some size through free agency but I don't think they have enough cap room to really get enough talent.

Once I know exactly what Houston and New Orleans get and once this deal is official, I will completely breakdown the deal.

{Update} It sounds like New Orleans will get Luis Scola, Kevin Martin and Goran Dragic from Houston.
